Nato a Oceanside nel 1959, Andre Dubus III vive nel Massachusetts con la moglie Fontaine e i loro tre figli. Figlio del narratore e saggista Andre Dubus II - maestro della short story statunitense e figura che torna spesso nell'acclamata autobiografia "Townie" ("I pugni nella testa") -, è autore di romanzi e raccolte di racconti tra cui: "Il giardino delle farfalle notturne" ("The Garden of Last Days"), "The Cage Keeper and Other Stories" e "Bluesman" (inediti in Italia), nonché del "New York Times" bestseller "La casa di sabbia e nebbia", romanzo finalista al National Book Award grazie a cui conquista una vasta notorietà internazionale, con oltre due milioni di copie vendute e con una trasposizione cinematografica a opera del regista ucraino Vadim Perelman, candidata nel 2003 a quattro Premi Oscar. Nel 2013, dopo la parentesi de "I pugni nella testa", l'autore torna alla fiction e agli intrecci ambientati nella provincia americana con "L'amore sporco", «una prova narrativa di prima categoria a opera di un talento abbagliante» ("Kirkus Review"), già Editors' Choice e Notable Book del "New York Times". Insignito della Guggenheim Fellowship, del National Magazine Award for Fiction e di due premi Pushcart, Dubus III è stato docente a Harvard, alla Tufts University e all'Emerson College di Boston. Attualmente insegna presso la University of Massachusetts Lowell. I suoi libri sono pubblicati in più di venticinque lingue.
Andre Dubus III is the author of six books: "The Cage Keeper and Other Stories", "Bluesman", and the New York Times bestsellers, "House of Sand and Fog", "The Garden of Last Days" (soon to be a major motion picture) and his memoir, "Townie", a #4 New York Times bestseller and a New York Times "Editors Choice". His work has been included in The Best American Essays and The Best Spiritual Writing anthologies, and his novel, House of Sand and Fog was a finalist for the National Book Award, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, and was made into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly. His new book, Dirty Love, was published in the fall of 2013 and has been listed as a New York Times "Notable Book", a New York Times Editors' Choice", a 2013 "Notable Fiction" choice from The Washington Post, and a Kirkus "Starred Best Book of 2013". Mr. Dubus has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, The National Magazine Award for Fiction, Two Pushcart Prizes, and an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature. His books are published in over twenty-five languages, and he teaches full-time at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Fontaine, a modern dancer, and their three children.
