Juan Gabriel Vásquez è nato a Bogotá nel 1973. Scrittore sudamericano di primissimo piano, tradotto in sedici lingue, ha conseguito un grande successo internazionale di critica e di pubblico con i suoi romanzi. "Gli informatori" (2009) è stato scelto come uno dei romanzi colombiani più importanti degli ultimi venticinque anni dalla rivista "Semanal", è arrivato finalista all'Independent Foreign Fiction Prize e ha attirato gli elogi di Mario Vargas Llosa e John Banville. "Storia segreta del Costaguana" (2008), magnifico omaggio alla storia colombiana e all'opera di Joseph Conrad, si è aggiudicato il Premio Qwerty a Barcellona e il Premio Fundación Libros & Letras a Bogotá. "Il rumore delle cose che cadono" (2012), oltre agli elogi di scrittori del calibro di Edmund White e Jonathan Franzen, si è aggiudicato all'unanimità il Premio Alfaguara 2011, l'English Pen Award 2012, il Premio Gregor von Rezzori-Città di Firenze 2013 e l'International Impac Dublin Literary Award nel 2014. Vásquez ha inoltre vinto due volte il Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar e nel 2012 gli è stato assegnato il premio francese Roger Caillois per l'insieme dell'opera. Juan Gabriel Vásquez was born in Bogota in 1973. A South American writer of the first order, with his works translated into more than 60 languages, he has enjoyed great and international success with both critics and public alike. "Gli informatori" (2009) was selected as one of the most important Colombian novels of the past 25 years by the magazine "Semanal", and he was a finalist at the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, attracting praise from the likes of Mario Vargas Llosa and John Banville. "Storia segreta del Costaguana" (2008), a magnificent homage to Colombian history and the work of Joseph Conrad, won the Premio Qwerty in Barcelona and the Premio Fundación Libros & Letras in Bogotá. "Il rumore delle cose che cadono" (2012), in addition to being praised by the likes of Edmund White and Jonathan Franzen, was awarded the premio Alfaguara 2011, the English Pen Award 2012, the Premio Gregor von Rezzori-Città di Firenze 2013 and the International Impac Dublin Literary Award in 2014. Vásquez is a two-time winner of the Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar and, in 2012, he won the French Roger Caillois award for his body of work. Following the release of "Le reputazioni" (2014), the Italian translation of "La forma delle rovine" (2016) is currently underway, a tale of criminal investigation which also looks at our relationship with the past and with conspiracy theories.
