Pearl Abraham è nata nel 1960 a Gerusalemme. Figlia di un rabbino, è cresciuta in una comunità di Chassidim a Brooklyn e in seguito in una cittadina dello Stato di New York. Vive e lavora a New York, dove insegna creative writing alla New York University. Ha esordito nel 1995 con "La lettrice di romanzi d'amore", un bestseller internazionale ispirato alla sua vita, che racconta la storia di una ragazzina, che sogna di nascosto attraverso i romanzi d'amore che legge nonostante i divieti imposti dalla sua famiglia, chiusa in una realtà religiosa ortodossa che le impedisce di aprirsi al resto del mondo. Pearl Abraham was born in Jerusalem in 1960.Daughter of a rabbi, she grew up in Brooklyn, in a Chassidim community, and then she moved to a small town in the State of New York. She lives and works in New York, where she teaches creative writing at the New York University. She became famous in 1995 with "The romance reader", an international bestseller inspired by her life. It is the story of a young girl who secretly dreams reading romances and therefore disobeying the prohibition imposed by her family, whose very orthodox religion prevents them from opening their minds to the rest of the world. Also in her second book, Pearl Abraham, considered one of the most talented writers of the new century, deals with the extraneousness and the incompatibility between family tradition and the outside world.
