Francesco Careri si laurea in architettura nel 1993 e nel 2000 è Dottore di Ricerca in Progettazione Architettonica e Urbana, con una tesi sul rapporto tra pratiche artistiche e ambientali e la lettura della città contemporanea. Dal 1997 è professore a contratto presso la Facoltà di Architettura di Roma Tre. Ha contratti di insegnamento in Francia presso l'Institut d'Arts Visuels d'Orléans, l'École d'Architecture de Paris-Tolbiac e di Paris-Val-de-Marne, l'École de Beaux Arts de Clermont-Ferrand, l'École d'Architecture de Brétagne e dal 2001 insegna all'École des Beaux Arts de Dijon presso il corso di Arts Urbaines. In Francia inoltre espone al Palais de Tokyo e al Centre Pompidou, pubblica articoli nelle riviste l'"Architecture d'Aujourd'hui" e "Techniques & Architecture" ed è responsabile italiano della sezione francese dell' IFYA, International Forum of Young Architects. Svolge attività professionale di architetto partecipando a numerosi concorsi internazionali di architettura, riceve la menzione d'onore per i progetti Hellersdorfer Graben-Berlin (con Franco Zagari 1994) e Europan 6. In-between cities (2002). Nel 1997 è invitato alla competizione A la recherche de la maison modéle risultando selezionato per la costruzione di cinque modelli abitativi sperimentali attualmente in corso di realizzazione a Rezé-le-Nantes. Nel 2003 vince il Primo Premio per il Concorso Europan 7. Sub Urban Challenge. Urban Intensity and Housing Diversity nella periferia parigina. È membro fondatore del Laboratorio di Arte Urbana Stalker con cui sperimenta diverse metodologie di lettura del paesaggio contemporaneo, esponendone i risultati in numerose mostre e riviste nazionali ed internazionali. Nel 1998 lo Stato Francese acquisisce per la collezione pubblica del FNAC (Fonds National d'Art Contemporaine) l'archivio dei materiali sull'attraversamento del sistema dei vuoti urbani della città di Roma compiuto nel 1995 e su cui nel 2000 l'editore Jean Michel Place pubblica il libro "Stalker attraverso i Territori Attuali". A Roma ha per tre anni sperimenato tentativi di progettazione partecipata all'intero del Campo Boario del Mattatoio di Testaccio e sta attualmente lavorando per il progetto Immaginare Corviale e Ricordando Samudaripan per la giornata della memoria della shoa nomade.
Francesco Careri was born in Rome in 1966 and graduated in Architecture in 1993. In 2000 he obtained his PhD in Research in Architectonic and Urban Planning with a thesis on the relation between artistic and environmental practices and a reading of contemporary cities. Since 1997 he has been a freelance professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Rome TRE. He teaches in France at l'Institut d'Arts Visuels d'Orléans, l'École d'Architecture de Paris-Tolbiac and Paris-Val-de-Marne, l'École de Beaux Arts de Clermont-Ferrand, l'École d'Architecture de Brétagne and since 2001 he has taught at École des Beaux Arts de Dijon within the course of Arts Urbaines. In France he also exhibits his works at Palais de Tokyo and Centre Pompidou and publishes articles in magazines such as "Architecture d'Aujourd'hui" and "Techniques & Architecture". He is also the Italian representative at the French section of IFYA - International Forum of Young Architects. He is a practising architect and takes part in a number of international architectural competitions, and received a special mention for the projects Hellersdorfer Graben-Berlin (with Franco Zagari 1994) and Europan 6. In-between cities (with ma0, 2002). In 1997 he was invited to the competition A la recherche de la maison modéle where he was selected for the construction of five experimental dwellings which are currently being built in Rezé-le-Nantes. In 2003 he won, with Ma0 & Co, the 1st Prize for the Competition Europan 7. Sub Urban Challenge. Urban Intensity and Housing Diversity on the outskirts of Paris.He is a founding member of the Stalker Urban Art workshop where he experiments with different methodologies to interpret the contemporary environment, the results of which are shown in various exhibitions and magazines both at home and abroad. In 1988 the French State bought for the public FNAC collection (Fonds National d'Art Contemporaine) the file on Rome urban voids systems crossing accomplished in 1995 and about which Jean Michel Place published "Stalker attraverso i Territori Attuali" in 2000. In Rome he has been experimenting with shared planning for Campo Boario del Mattatoio di Testaccio. He is currently working on the project Immaginare Corviale and Ricordando Samudaripan for the Nomads' Shoa Remembrance Day.
