John F. Deane, uno dei più stimati poeti contemporanei, è nato a Achill Island, Co Mayo, nel 1943. Vive a Dublino ed è l'editore della Dedalus Press. John F. Deane is one of the most distinguished contemporary poets. He lives in Dublin and is the publisher for Dedalus Press. He founded Poetry Island, a national poetry society, and "Poetry Island Review" in 1979. He authored several poetry collections and a few fiction books. His poetry books include "Christ with the Urban Fox" (Dedalus Press, 1977), a collection published in several languages, and "Toccata and Fugue. New selected Poems" (Carcanet 2000). His poems have been translated in France, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy and Sweden. His prose works include "In the Name of the Wolf" (Blackstraff Press, 1999), published and translated in Germany in 2001, "Undertow" (Blackstraff Press, 2002) and a collection of short stories "The Coffin Master" (Blackstraff Press, 2000). In 1996, John Deane was appointed Secretary General of the European Academy of Poetry. In 2001 he was also awarded the prestigious Marten Toonder Award for Literature.
