Jake Arnott vive a Londra. Dopo aver abbandonato la scuola a sedici anni, ha svolto vari lavori: operaio, assistente di un agente teatrale, attore, modello per un artista, interprete del linguaggio dei segni e addetto alla camera mortuaria. Negli anni Ottanta ha vissuto in varie case occupate a Londra. Nel 1989 si è spostato a Leeds per lavorare con la Red ladder, una compagnia di teatro radicale. Dopo un tour nazionale, Jake ha cominciato a scrivere, mantenendosi con un lavoro part-time presso il Centro Sociale di Leeds come resource centre worker. Il suo primo romanzo "The long firm" ha ottenuto un enorme successo e la BBC ne trarrà una serie televisiva. Il romanzo racconta la Londra degli anni Sessanta attraverso le imprese del gangster Harry Starks, ritratto attraverso cinque personaggi che l'hanno incontrato in periodi diversi della sua carriera. Jake Arnott lives in London. After leaving school at the age of sixteen e did several jobs: labourer, theatrical agent's assistant, actor, artist's life model, sign language interpreter and mortuary technician. During the 80's he lived in various squats in London. In 1989 he moved to Leeds to work for Red Ladder, the radical theatre company. After a national tour, Jake Arnott started writing supporting himself on a part time job with Leeds Social Services as a resource centre worker. His first novel, "The long firm", was a great success and has been filmed for BBC television. The story is set admist London's highlife and lowlife, in the 60's, and is about the gangster Harry Starks, as portrayed by five people who met him in different periods of his career. In 2001, Jake Arnott published his second book, He Kills Coppers, another gangsters' story set in London that was among the best-sellers for several weeks.
