Tony Wheeler was born in Great Britain, but grew up in Pakistan in the West Indies and in the United States. In 1973, with his wife Maureen, founded the publishing house of Lonely Planet, that today publishes over 650 guides with the help of over 150 authors. Tony collaborated with the drawing up of some twenty guides for Lonely Planet.
