Patricia Urquiola nata ad Oviedo, Spagna, ha frequentato la facoltà di architettura al Politecnico di Madrid e poi al Politecnico di Milano dove si laurea nel 1989. Dal 1990 al 1992 è assistente nei corsi tenuti da Achille Castiglioni ed Eugenio Bettinelli sia al Politecnico di Milano che all'ENSCI di Parigi.
Dal 1990 al 1996 segue l'ufficio sviluppo prodotti per De Padova dove firma con Vico Magistretti: "Flower", "Loom Sofa" e "Chaise Longue".
Contemporaneamente, dal 1993 al 1996, apre uno studio associato (con M. de Renzio e E. Ramerino) e si occupa di progettazione architettonica, interni, showroom e ristoranti.
Dal 1996 al 2000, coordina il gruppo design dello studio Lissoni Associati. Nel 2001 apre un suo studio di progettazione dove si occupa di design, allestimenti ed architettura. Fino al 2003 dove vince il premio Best system a Colonia, Germania, per la collezione "Fjord" di Moroso.
Attualmente vive e lavora a Milano dove progetta per diverse aziende di design.
Patricia Urquiola, born in Oviedo (Spain), studied Architecture first at Madrid Polytechnic and then at Milan Polytechnic where she graduated in 1989. From 1990 till 1992, she was an assistant at the courses organized by Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli both at Milan Polytechnic and at the ENSCI in Paris. From 1990 till 1996, she was responsible for the Product Development office of De Padova where, together with Vico Magistretti, she authored "Flower", "Loom Sofa" and "Chaise Longue". At the same time, from 1993 till 1996, she opened a studio (with M. de Renzio and E. Ramerino) dealing with architectural, interior, showroom and restaurant design. From 1996 till 2000, she was in charge of the design department of Lissoni Aossicati Studio. In 2001, she opened her own design studio where she deals with setting up and architecture. In 2003 , she was awarded the Best System Prize in Cologne (Germany) for the collection "Fjord" by Moroso.
She currently lives and works in Milan where she collaborates with several design companies.
