Winy Maas, nato nel 1959 a Schijndel, Olanda, vive e lavora a Rotterdam. E' direttore e fondatore dello studio MRDV, che produce design e studi nel campo dell'architettura, dell'urbanistica e del landscape design. Gli studi di Light Urbanism per il Municipality of Rotterdam, la direzione per la Public Broadcasting Company VPRO e le residenze per anziani Wozoco's ad Amsterdam hanno portato MVRDV all' attenzione di un vasto campo di clienti e gli ha dato risalto internazionale.
