Gaute Heivoll, nato nel 1978, si è laureato con un curriculum in materie giuridiche, psicologiche e letterarie. Ha debuttato nel 2002 con la raccolta in prosa "Liten dansende gutt". È dell'anno seguente il romanzo "Omars siste dager" (Gli ultimi giorni di Omar), del 2005 il romanzo "Ungdomssangen" (Canto di gioventù), del 2006 "Kjærlighetsdikt på bunnen av elva" (Poesie d'amore sul fondo del fiume). Heivoll ha vinto diverse borse e nel 2003 gli è stato conferito il premio Tiden-prisen. Gaute Heivoll ha inoltre scritto novelle, poesie e saggi per diverse antologie e riviste letterarie. Ha tenuto una serie di corsi di scrittura, sia per giovani che per adulti, e ha lavorato per un periodo come critico letterario per la stampa quotidiana. Ultimamente Gaute Heivoll ha ampliato la sua attività in campo letterario collaborando con svariati artisti, tra cui anche compositori e coreografi, fotografi d'arte e performance artists.
Nel 2006 viene selezionato per Scritture Giovani con il racconto "Dr. Gordeau", che viene pubblicato anche dalla rivista letteraria americana online "Words without Borders".
Gaute Heivoll, born in 1978, graduated with a curriculum including law, psychology and literature subjects. In 2002, he made his literary debut with the poems collection "Liten dansende gutt". The following year he published his novel "Omars siste dager" (Omar's Last Days). "Ungdomssangen" (Song of Youth) was published in 2005 and "Kjærlighetsdikt på bunnen av elva" (Love poems at the river bottom) in 2006. Heivoll was awarded several scholarships and in 2003 he was the recipient of the Tiden-prisen Prize. Gaute Heivoll has also written novellas, poems, essays and several anthologies. He has written for literary magazines and hold writing courses, both for children and adults. He has also worked as a literary critic for some newspapers. Gaute has recently broadened his field of activity working with several artists including composers, choreographers, art photographers and performance artists.
In 2006 he was the Norwegian representative to the Literary Festival Project Scritture Giovanni with his short-story "Dr. Gordeau", which is also published by "Words without Borders", an American Online Magazine for International Literature.
