Nato nel 1975 a Monaco di Baviera, Daniel Kehlmann vive dal 1981 a Vienna, dove ha studiato filosofia e letteratura. Il suo debutto letterario risale al 1997, anno di pubblicazione del romanzo "Beerholms Vorstellung", che ha ottenuto il premio Förderpreis des Kulturkreises der Deutschen Wirtschaft. Da allora ha pubblicato, tra gli altri, "Der fernste Ort" (2004) e "Ich und Kaminski" (2003), già caso letterario in Germania. Born in 1975 in Munich, since 1981, Daniel Kehlmann has lived in Vienna where he studied Philosophy and Literature. His literary debut bates back to 1997, year in which he published his novel "Beerholms Vorstellung", winner of the Förderpreis des Kulturkreises der Deutschen Wirtschaft Prize. Since then, he has published some more, including "Der fernste Ort" (2004) and "Ich und Kaminski" (2003), already a literary case in Germany. His works have been translated into twelve languages and, in 2001, the magazine Stern wrote that his novels «give out the same disturbing appeal as those of masters such as Nabokov and Proust». In 2005 he has been the recipient of the prestigious Candide-Preis Prize.
