Timur Kibirov, nato nel 1955 in Ucraina, è poeta e scrittore. Dopo avere viaggiato a lungo con la famiglia seguendo il padre ufficiale dell'esercito, si è stabilito a Mosca nel 1972. Nel 1975 è stato espulso da scuola, ha prestato servizio militare per due anni e ha poi ripreso e terminato gli studi. Le sue prime poesie sono state pubblicate sulle riviste russe dell'emigrazione ("Kontinent" e "Syntaksis"). Dal 1980 ha cominciato a essere conosciuto in Russia come poeta underground, anche se le sue opere, che ritraggono in modo ironico le assurdità della vita sovietica, la sua cattiveria e la sua insopportabile routine, non sono state pubblicate fino al 1988 . La sua poesia è vicina stilisticamente al movimento artistico della soz-art e rientra nella corrente concettualista del postmodernismo russo. Nel 2000 è stato il primo ospite della Fondazione Brodskij presso l'Accademia Americana di Roma e nel 2008 ha vinto il Premio nazionale russo Poet.
Timur Kibirov, born in 1955 in Ucraine, is a poet and author. After traveling for a long time with his family, following his father, a military, he settled in Moscow in 1972. In 1975 he was expelled from school, did a two-year military service and then took up studying again. His first poems were published by Russian emingrants' magazines ("Kontinent" and "Syntaksis"). Since 1980 he has become known in Russia as an underground poet, even if his works, portraying ironically the absurdity of the Soviet life, were not published until 1988. His poetry is stylistically close to the artistic movement soz-art and is part of the conceptual current of Russian postmodernism. In 2000 he was the first guest of the Brodskij Foundation at the Accademia Americana in Rome and in 2008 he won the Russian National Poetry Award.
