Da quando nella seconda metà degli anni '80 iniziano a fare sul serio, Elio e le Storie Tese conquistano in poco tempo un successo tutto sommato facile, se si trascurano alcuni dettagli, come ad esempio che sono fra i migliori musicisti a livello nazionale, sono molto simpatici e hanno una scrittura - sia musicale che testuale - così originale da essere diventata negli anni un marchio di fabbrica.
Come se tutto ciò già non bastasse a far urlare allo spreco, Elio e le Storie Tese hanno un dono che li rende semplicemente unici: la capacità di analizzare e rappresentare magistralmente nelle loro canzoni i luoghi comuni, i tic inconfessabili, i vizi personali e collettivi della nazione, in una chiave al tempo raffinatissima e fortemente popolare, che li colloca a pieno titolo tra i più sensibili interpreti della società italiana contemporanea che la musica abbia saputo esprimere negli ultimi due decenni. Il loro stile è antiretorico per definizione e, in un'epoca che fa della retorica e della demagogia lo stile del potere, le loro canzoni, da sempre scientificamente disimpegnate, assumono una valenza di critica sociale che neppure il recente coming out a favore del Premier e l'autoproclamazione a gruppo simbolo di Forza Italia riesce a smussare.

Since the second half of the 80's, when they started meaning business, success for Elio e le Storie Tese has come quite easily, one might think. Actually, they are amongst Italy's most gifted musicians. They are very amusing and compose music and write lyrics so original that they have become their distinctive trademark .
And if this was not enough, Elio e le Storie Tese have a very distinctive and rare gift: their ability to analyze and express skilfully in their songs clichés, unspeakable tics, personal, collective and national vices in a way which is both very refined and strongly palatable to the masses. This places them, quite rightfully, amongst the most sensitive music interpreters of contemporary Italian society of the past two decades.
And they swear, as each and every one of us, unlike other names in the Italian pop scene, which still do not speak their audience's language and are trapped in the rhetoric of TV language.
Another Elio e le Storie Tese's little known strong point is their sharp unrhetorical style. In an era where the establishment speaks through rhetoric and demagogy, their songs, always scientifically uncommitted, take up the role of social criticism that even their recent revelation supporting the Pemier (Silvio Berlusconi) and their self-proclamation as Forza Italia's symbol-band is unable to tone down.
