Simon Njami è uno scrittore, critico d'arte e curatore camerunese. Nato a Losanna nel 1962 dopo gli studi in filosofia si dedica al lavoro di scrittore e collabora con riviste. Nel 1990 viene coinvolto Jean Loup Pivin e Pascal Martin Saint Léon nella creazione della rivista "Revue Noire" che pubblica il suo primo numero a primavera del 1991. È consulente della Collezione Sindika Dokolo, dell'Association Française d'Action Artistique e co-fondatore e capo-redattore della rivista culturale "Revue Noire". Nel 2001 diventa curatore degli Incontri africani della fotografia di Bamako con i quali collaborerà come curatore fino al 2007. È membro del comitato scientifico del Musée des Confluences di Lione e del Museo della civilizzazione e dell'unità della Reunion di Saint-Denis. È visiting professor dell'Università di San Diego e menbro del comitato di nomina del premio Pictet. Simon Njami è curatore e scrittore, ha realizzato ricerche sulla produzione artistica e culturale in particolare in Africa ed è curatore di mostre che hanno fatto conoscere la produzione del continente e della sua diaspora e hanno dato una definizione ampia e inclusiva dell'arte contemporanea africana. Ha curato la grande esposizione itinerante "Africa Remix" che lo ha reso famoso in tutto il mondo. È stato il direttore artistico degli Incontri africani della fotografia di Bamako del 2001 e nel 2007 co-curatore del padiglione dell'Africa alla 52esima Biennale di Venezia. Collabora con la Triennale di Luanda e nel 2010 è stato curatore generale del SUD-Salon Urbain di Douala. Tra gli artisti esposti e sostenuti da Simon Njami si possono ricordare Jane Alexander, Bili Bidjocka, Tracey Rose, Andrew Tshabangu.
Simon Njami is a Cameroonian writer, art critique and curator. Born in 1962 in Lausanne, after studying law and the arts, he began his career as a writer, and collaborated with magazines. In 1991, with Jean-Loup Pivin and Pascal Martin Saint Léon he co-founded the journal "Revue Noire". He is a consultant for the Collection Sindika Dokolo, and the Association française d'action artistique (AFAA - French Association of Artistic Initiatives) and editor in chief of "Revue Noir". In 2001 he becomes the co-curator for the African Festival of Photography in Bamako and collaborates until 2007. He is a member of the scientific committee of the Musée des Confluences in Lyon and the Museum of Civilisation of the Reunion di Saint-Denis. He is a visiting professor at the university of San Diego and a member of the nominating committee for the Pictet Award. Simon Njami is a curator and writer, has done cultural and artistic research, especially focusing on Africa and has been the curator of exhibitions promoting the continent 's production and Diaspora that gave a broad and inclusive definition of contemporary African art. He curated the big exhibition "Africa Remix" that made him famous throughout the world. He was the art director of the African Festival of Photography in Bamako 2001 and in 2007 he was the co-curator for the African pavilion at the 52nd Biennale in Venice.
