Nata a Reykjavík nel 1976, Gudrún Eva Mínervudóttir dopo la scuola superiore si iscrive alla facoltà di Filosofia dell'Università d'Islanda, che frequenta in modo discontinuo per laurearsi nel 2005. Lavora come giornalista freelance per l'"Helgarpósturinn" dal 1996 al 1997. Nel 1998 è uscito il suo primo romanzo, "Sóley sólufegri", a tiratura ridotta; nello stesso anno la casa editrice Bjartur ha pubblicato una sua raccolta di racconti, "Á meðan hann horfir á þig ertu María mey", che le ha portato un immediato successo. Dal 1998 Guðrún Eva ha pubblicato romanzi, poesie e una raccolta di racconti filosofici per bambini a scopo didattico, editi dal Centro Nazionale per i Materiali Educativi. Ha anche tradotto in islandese vari romanzi di autori stranieri.
Il romanzo "Fyrirlestur um hamingjuna" è stato nominato al Premio Letterario Nazionale nel 2000, e due anni dopo il romanzo "Sagan af sjóreknu píanóunum" ha ricevuto la menzione del Premio Culturale DV per la Letteratura, premio che poi si è aggiudicata nel 2005 con "Yosoy", tradotto in molti paesi europei e i cui diritti cinematografici sono stati acquistati in Spagna.
Born in Reykjavik in 1976, Gudrún Eva Mínervudóttir, after leaving High School she enrolled for a Philosophy degree at Iceland University, which she attended erratically and graduated in 2005. She then worked as freelance journalist for "Helgarpósturinn" from 1996 to 1997. In 1998 she published her first novel "Sóley sólufegri", with a low circulation; the same year the publishing house Bjartur published her collection of short stories "Á meðan hann horfir á þig ertu María mey", which gave her immediate success. Since 1998 Guðrún Eva published novels, poems and a collection of educational philosophical short stories for children, published by National Centre for Educational Material. She also translated into Icelandic several novels by foreign authors. The novel "Fyrirlestur um hamingjuna was nominated" for the 2000 National Literary Prize and two years later her novel "Sagan af sjóreknu píanóunum" was awarded a special mention by the DV Cultural Prize for Literature, which she won in 2005 with "Yosoy", translated in many European Countries and whose film rights have been acquired in Spain.
