Morozov, Evgeny
A oggi non v'è effetto dei nuovi media sulla società e la politica che non sia stato preso in esame dal sociologo e giornalista bielorusso Evgeny Morozov (Soligorsk, 1984), ricercatore universitario, acceso polemista ed esperto di geopolitica e tecnologie dell'informazione. Tanto in saggi tradotti in più paesi ("L'ingenuità della rete", "Contro Steve Jobs", "Internet non salverà il mondo") che in contributi apparsi in alcune delle più autorevoli testate giornalistiche del pianeta ("New Republic", "The New York Times", "The Economist", "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung", "The Wall Street Journal", "Financial Times"), Morozov ha criticato aspramente sia i presupposti economici del neoliberismo digitale che la vulgata cyber-ottimista che ne accompagna i trionfi sul campo. Il libro "Sylicon Valley. I signori del silicio" (2016) ripropone saggi e articoli pubblicati dallo studioso in anni di attvità e si presenta come un'organica invettiva contro le politiche aziendali dei colossi della new economy, che sotto la patina della rivoluzione tecnologica e dell'innovazione spinta rendono sempre più palese una spregiudicata capitalizzazione dei dati personali, della privacy e delle libertà fondamentali dei propri utenti. Nel 2018 ha pubblicato insieme a Francesca Bria – dirigente del dipartimento di Tecnologia e Innovazione Digitale del Comune di Barcellona – il saggio "Ripensare le smart city".

To date there is no effect of new media on society and politics that has not been examined by Belarusian sociologist and journalist Evgeni Morozov (Soligorsk, 1984), university researcher turned polemicist and expert on geopolitics and information technology. Both in essays that have been translated into a number of different languages ("L'ingenuità della rete", "Contro Steve Jobs", "Internet non salverà il mondo") and in contributions that have appeared in some of the most authoritative titles on the planet ("New Republic", "The New York Times", "The Economist", "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung", "The Wall Street Journal", "Financial Times"), Morozov has harshly criticised both the economic basis of digital neoliberalism and the Vulgate cyber optimism that accompanies triumphs in the field. His book "Silicon Valley. I signori del silicio" (2016) collects essays and articles that he has published over the past three years, and is presented as an organic invective against corporate policies of the new economy, which under patina of the technological revolution and the thrust of innovation render the unscrupulous capitalisation of personal data, privacy and the fundamental freedoms of its users increasingly clear. In 2018 he published with Francesca Bria – Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer of the City of Barcelona – the essay "Ripensare le smart city".
